The Steve Musson Emergency Services Education Endowment, established in 2003 by the Musson family, recognizes and honors Steve’s passion for emergency care. Floyd Valley Healthcare appreciates the 27 years of steadfast duty, organization and care he gave.
Applicants pursuing education, or actively providing emergency care for Plymouth County, including paramedics, first responders and emergency technicians, may apply for this grant to help defer their education expenses. Scholarships from this endowment fund are awarded annually.
Steven H. Musson, devoted husband and father,was a local businessman and community supporter of Le Mars and the surrounding areas.Steve started the Le Mars Insurance Agency in 1985 and was the owner and President until his death in 2002. In addition to his business ventures, Steve gave his time and talents to the community. Steve helped start the Le Mars Ambulance Service in 1975 and served as co-director since its inception. Steve was also responsible for taking the Ambulance Service from a B-Level to its current Paramedic Level. Steve spent many hours of his time not only acting as Administrator, but also serving the emergency medical needs of the community. He served as the Plymouth County Emergency Manager for 3 years. Steve was elected to the Floyd Valley Hospital Board of Trustees. During his tenure, he was instrumental in expanding the Outpatient and Emergency Departments of the hospital. Steve was also active as the Grand Knight of the Le Mars Elks Club, was a Member of the Le Mars Community School Board, was a director and actor for the Postal Playhouse, was a Little League Coach, served on the Finance Committee at Calvary United Methodist Church, and supported a number of other local events and causes.
