Breast Cancer Awareness

Breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women in the US.  According to the American Cancer Society, an estimated 316,950 new invasive breast cancers will be diagnosed in US women in 2025, 29% of them in women younger than 55 years of age.  Breast cancer does not typically have symptoms when it is small and easy to treat.  That is why regularly scheduled mammograms are so important, early detection saves lives.  Women over 40 years of age should be getting screened every two years, starting at 35 if you are at high risk as determined by your provider.  Mammography statistics for Iowa show that 79.6% of women have reported having a mammogram within the past two years, which is a good start but there is definitely room to grow.  Please call Floyd Valley Radiology to schedule your mammogram if you are in the 20%. If you do not do it for yourself, do it for your family and friends as you are important to them!  For the nearly 80%, great job and keep up the good work!
