Erickson Announced as November Hot Shot

Druell Erickson, son of Ashley Erickson and Andrew Collins of Le Mars, will be honored as a Floyd Valley Healthcare Hot Shot at the November 16th Musketeer game against the Muskegon Lumberjacks.  He is fun-loving and giggly 6 year-old that loves dinosaurs farming with his papa and is in the 1st grade.

Druell has been diagnosed with level 2 autism and is classified as non-verbal.  Level 2 autism is a mid-range level on the autism spectrum (ASD) that requires significant support.  This level of ASD often leads to communication and social interaction challenges, repetitive behaviors, sensitivity to change and narrowed interests.  The prevalence of ASD in the US is about 1 in 36 children and about 4 times more likely to occur in boys.

Druell is a patient of Dr. Jolene Meis and enjoys his therapy time with Jess Martinez and Hannah Schramm.  With their patience and encouragement as well as working with his teacher, Druell has made tremendous gains this last year with not only sounds but with food aversions.  He continues to see his local team as well as specialists to help with some bathroom and behavioral issues which continue to improve his daily living.

Please join us in celebrating Druell, our November Hot Shot!
