Nurses Recognized

Floyd Valley Healthcare recently recognized three nurses for completing the year-long University of Iowa College of Nursing’s Iowa Online Nurse Residency Program.  Brooke McFarland, Mayra Ramirez and Cassandra Frederick recently were awarded a stethoscope to celebrate their accomplishments.   

The purpose of the nurse residency is to ease the transition of the new graduate nurse into professional practice, aid in their socialization as a fully functioning member of the healthcare team and help them to provide safe and comprehensive patient care.  While putting to task skills learned in class, nurses work with a designated mentor to solidify patient care skills, collaborate with other healthcare professionals and gain confidence in the profession.
