Rosales Announced as February Hot Shot

Oscar Rosales, the grandson of David and Heidi Bohlken, will be honored as a Floyd Valley Healthcare Hot Shot at the February 1st Musketeer game against the Sioux Falls Stampede. Oscar turned 11 on January 30th.
As a 1 year-old, Oscar was rushed to the Floyd Valley Emergency Department seizing from a traumatic brain injury (TBI). He was life-flighted to Sioux Falls and that was the beginning of a long health journey that was nothing short of miracle. Oscar has overcome a lot of challenges as he had paralysis, blindness, loss of speech and was placed into a coma to let his brain heal. Through hard work with his healthcare providers and therapy teams, he has continued to improve and cope with the permanent damage left after his TBI.
Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) is a serious brain injury caused by forcefully shaking an infant or toddler. SBS damages brain cells and can cause a multitude of health issues as well as developmental delays, behavioral problems and, in extreme cases, death. If you are struggling or feeling overwhelmed while raising a child, please reach out to your healthcare provider. SBS is 100% preventable.
Please join us in celebrating Oscar, our February Hot Shot!
The Sioux City Musketeers, in partnership with Floyd Valley Healthcare (FVH) began the Hot Shots program in 2018. This program was created with the goal of honoring FVH pediatric patients who have chronic health issues. We are excited to give children an opportunity to have a fun time with their family, cheer on the team and just enjoy being a kid for a night.
