Walters Announced as April Hot Shot

Johnny Walters, son of Caitlin Hove of Le Mars, has been named the April 13th Hot Shot.  He is 7 years old and loves school, playing outside, learning new things, and having fun with friends.  Johnny was born at 25 weeks weighing 1 pound 12 ounces.  He has overcome many obstacles since then, but is still medically complex.

Johnny was born premature and contracted meningitis.  As many as 50% of infants contracting meningitis will develop serious health problems.  He currently has a shunt placed to help remove excess fluid from his brain and spinal cord and uses a feeding tube for nutrition.  He has had corrective surgery on his eye muscles and was recently diagnosed with ADHD.  Johnny sees many specialists and visits his pediatrician, Dr. Jolene Meis, monthly to check on his progress and reports to his specialists.

Please join us in celebrating Johnny, our April 13 Hot Shot!

The Sioux City Musketeers, in partnership with Floyd Valley Healthcare (FVH) began the Hot Shots program in 2018.  This program was created with the goal of honoring FVH pediatric patients who have chronic health issues. We are excited to give children an opportunity to have a fun time with their family, cheer on the team and just enjoy being a kid for a night.
