Student Experience

Floyd Valley Healthcare recognizes the value and importance of career development opportunities for students. We work with high school students in career exploration and partner with secondary academic institutions to provide students with meaningful learning experiences.

Career Exploration – This observation-only experience pairs a high school student with a healthcare professional to learn about their daily tasks, routines and responsibilities. Students can acquire an awareness of the skills required for a specific career, learn about educational requirements and experience the healthcare culture.

Career Observation – Career observation is available to college-level students who are required to have a shadow experience either as part of their curriculum or as part of their application to a health care related academic program.

Clinical Experience – Floyd Valley Healthcare provides clinical internships/preceptorships, as well as clinical rotations to assist in establishing and maintaining our healthcare workforce. Students must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and an affiliation agreement must be established between Floyd Valley Healthcare and the college/university.

Internships – As a progressive health care partner, Floyd Valley Healthcare (FVH) provides internship opportunities for post-secondary students.

Paid internships are considered for students who are currently enrolled in a class requiring an internship and who are pursuing a degree/certification for a profession that is identified by FVH as competitive and short-supply recruitment. Unpaid internships are considered for students who are pursuing a degree/certification for a profession that is not identified as such.
